Chard Farm is located on a spectacular terrace above the Kawarau River Gorge. A family owned business, founded in 1987 by Rob Hay & Gerdi Schuman at the entrance to the Gibbston Valley.
Originally the site was settled by the Chard family in the 1860 and market gardening provided food for the miners in the district during the gold rush boom.
The winery itself was built in 1993 and has grown to five company vineyards in the Gibbston Valley and Lowburn/Parkburn subregions of Central Otago today. Each of the vineyards is unique and provides distinctive and premium fruit. Central Otago offers an ideal environment for viticulture. Chard Farm specialises in a range of wine from premium Pinot Noir production with other varieties being Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer.
